Wind speeds and slower operation to affect drivers and boaters using Wasauksing swing bridge

There are a few changes coming to the operation of the Wasauksing swing bridge.
Public Service and Procurement Canada has sent new regulations to the operators at the bridge.
First of all, during the operation of the bridge, it will be slowed by 50 per cent to reduce stress on the span machinery.
This will mean vehicles will be waiting a bit longer for the bridge to swing open and closed.
Second, operators will not be allowed to swing the bridge open if the wind speeds reach 30kph or stronger.
Operators will have access to a wind speed indicator to keep track of this.
This will cause some interruption to the boating community in the area.
