The Parry Sound & Area Food Collaborative will be holding a Food Insecurity Forum on Friday, December the 1st at the Bobby Orr Community Centre in Parry Sound between 8:30 am and noon.
Called Forum for Change, the get together will spotlight Food Insecurity, something that affects 12 percent of Ontario families.
Dietician and Food Collaborative member Jessica Love defines Food Insecurity.
According to the Nutritious Food Basket Survey, the average cost of a basic nutritious diet in the North Bay Parry Sound region is $900 for a family of four.
Some families may be suffering from food insecurity and not even know it.
Keynote speaker at the forum will be Dr. Valerie Tarasuk, Principal Investigator at Food Insecurity Policy Research.
There is no charge and lunch is included.
