ACKNOWLEDGING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

Esprit Place Family Resource Centre in Parry Sound continues its efforts in helping victimized women as the rest of the world acknowledges the crisis over the weekend.

Last Saturday marked  International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

District of Parry Sound Social Services Administration Board CAO, Janet Patterson says events continue in Parry Sound to raise awareness of and deal with the problem.

In a joint statement, Ontario’s Minister of the Status of Women, Indira Naidoo-Harris and Minister of Social and Community Services, Dr. Helena Jaszuk both condemned sexual violence and harassment against women saying that it was prevalent and not acceptable.
