MORE SUPPORT FOR NURSES WITH PTSD

The Ontario government is proposing increased support for front-line nurses who suffer from PTSD.

The government says it recognizes that front-line nurses who are first responders are faced with traumatic situations that cause more stress.

In the past, nurses had to prove the that their work environment caused them to suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Under the new plan announced Wednesday December 6th, once a nurse is diagnosed with PTSD by either a psychiatrist or a psychologist, processing can begin immediately for Workplace and Safety Insurance Board benefits.
