Returnees and new faces make up the new Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board.
Following Tuesday, and in some cases, Wednesday’s municipal elections, two new trustees are in place along with six others returning to their posts.
Carol Corriveau-Truchon returns after she was acclaimed to her spot, representing Huntsville, Muskoka Lakes, Lake of Bays, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Georgian Bay and Parry Sound.
Corriveau-Truchon was elected to the board of trustees in 2010 and became the chair of Muskoka’s Catholic school board in 2016.
“We are pleased to welcome back many of our experienced trustees following the election, as well as two new faces to the board table,” said Brian Beal, Director of Education. “The commitment and service that trustees bring to their role, helps all staff provide meaningful, faith-filled learning for our students.”
The Board went on to thank retiring trustees Shawn Cooper and Connie Positano for their years of service, along with all the candidates who campaigned to be part of the Board.
The trustees begin a four-year term, starting on December 5th, 2018 at the inaugural board meeting. The board will be joined by a new student trustee, Anna Szumska.
The board serves a total student body of 22,000 students in 41 elementary and nine secondary schools.
