OPP arrests ATV driver

On November 6, shortly after 3:30pm,  the West Parry Sound OPP responded to a collision involving a single All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Maple Island Road in Whitestone Township. The vehicle driver was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries by EMS. Police spoke to the driver determining that he had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, a 68-year-old male from Toronto was arrested and charged with:

  • Drive motor vehicle while ability impaired – alcohol.
  • Drive motor vehicle – over 80 mg. of blood alcohol.
  • Driver – no helmet or improper helmet.
  • Disobey stop sign – fail to stop.

The driver was released on an Appear Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 6, 2018.

The OPP reminds motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call the police.
