Public Works starts new Twitter to keep people up to date on things like road conditions

In an effort to keep the township informed, the Parry Sound Public Works Department has started up a Twitter account.

Residents can receive real-time updates for information regarding weather, plowing, roads, closures and pertinent town information.

This initiative was brought forth by Councillor Bonnie Keith. “I think that we have to keep communicating better and better,” Keith said.

“Seeing that people were unhappy that the ploughs, in their opinion, weren’t out soon enough, or the snow wasn’t cleaned well enough, even though we were meeting minimum standards. I thought, how do we make this work so that people can more efficiently know what the situation is and be more supportive of our staff, so people know what staff are doing and keep us up to date with the necessary alerts in our community,” she added.

The Twitter handle is @ParrySoundPW and all residents with the social media account are urged to follow them.
