PARRY SOUND, ON- A pair of officers from the Parry Sound OPP were injured on Saturday.
According to police, the members were investigating a complaint of an unwanted intoxicated person at a home in McKellar Township around 10:00 p.m. that evening.
Once officers arrived at the home, they were told that three parties were being sexually assaulted by the unwanted man.
He fled from police, and after a short foot chase officers arrested him. During the arrest, one officer was struck in the face and another sustained serious non-life threatening injuries after falling into a ditch with the suspect.
That officer was taken to hospital, and is still being treated.
22 year old Chris Schneider of Point Edward is now facing the following charges:
- Sexual assault (three counts), contrary to Section 271 Criminal Code
- Assault peace officer – cause bodily harm, contrary to Section 270.01(1)(b) Criminal Code,
- Assault a peace officer, contrary to Section 270(1)(b) Criminal Code,, and
- Fail to comply with conditions of undertaking given by and officer in charge, contrary to Section 145(5.1) Criminal Code.
He has a bail hearing in Parry Sound on Friday.
