PARRY SOUND, ON-The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is encouraging public facilities and businesses to close for COVID-19.
The health unit is recommending that bars, theatres, libraries, recreational programs, daycare centres, places of worship close and restaurants to set up delivery only.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jim Chirico said that it is important to look at the bigger picture and work together to slow down the spread of COVID-19. “The risk to Canadians and those within our district still remains low. Within the health units district, there are no positive COVID-19 cases and no known community spread. By taking such measures we are helping to ensure that we protect ourselves and the ones we love from COVID-19.”
It is also recommended that gatherings remain less than 50 people and that everyone practise social distancing. The health unit said that this will ensure that several people do not get sick at the same time.
People should also consider talking to your boss about working from home, virtually attend meetings, spend time outside, limit or cancel group gatherings, avoid non-essential trips in the community, keep the windows open if you use a transportation service, and avoid long visits in care homes.
