York1 acquires Aces Waste Management

Local company Aces Waste Management has been acquired by infrastructure and environmental services corporation York1.

The merger went through last week, with all current employees kept on staff, including Aces’ owners, according to Brian Brunetti, President and Chief Operating Officer of York1. Brunetti says it means faster growth for Aces.

“It allows us to accelerate some of their equipment purchases, and accelerate some of the opportunities around growth,” says Brunetti. “When you talk about what that looks like in terms of employment opportunities, we’re looking to grow.”

Aces currently services Muskoka, Parry Sound, and Haliburton, as well as the surrounding areas. According to Brunetti, the merger allows York1 to expand north from the Greater Toronto Area and Greater Golden Horseshoe Area. With the addition of Aces’ transfer station in Barrie, the company now runs five stations in the province.

“What we’ll look to do is leverage that location and offer some of our other services that are available in other geographies, so it really allows us to offer more to the local communities,” says Brunetti.

Those services, he says, include demolition, excavation, shoring, drilling, and construction. While there were no specifics given on how many jobs would be created, Brunetti says the company is always hiring and if you’re looking for work, he’d love to hear from you.
