The Town of Parry Sound is partnering with the Village of Burk’s Falls to renovate an EMS base in the community.
Officials say the base – one of seven situated in the District of Parry Sound – is deteriorating and needs rehabilitation.
Cost estimates peg the rehabilitation project at around $500,000, while a completely new build would cost between $1.2 and $2.4 million.
At a March 5 meeting, Parry Sound council gave staff approval to move ahead and work out a funding partnership with Burk’s Falls.
The municipalities would finance the project, then be paid back by the District of Parry Sound Emergency Medical Service over time.
