Pizza fundraiser supporting local woman fighting breast cancer

A pizza fundraiser has been organized to help Jessica Fleetham, a Nobel woman battling breast cancer.

On Wednesday, March 13, the Parry Sound Domino’s will be offering a meal deal in support of the local mother.

Neighbour Mandy Antler said the pizza fundraiser came together after she approached Domino’s about participating in an online auction she organized for Fleetham. The auction raised $5,000.

“The owner (suggested) this pizza coupon fundraiser as well in order to give a little bit more to Jessica and her family,” said Antler.

“I think this is a great way for the community to come together and help out a local family get through hard times.”

Locals can use the code Jess13 on March 13 and get two medium pizzas and cheese bread for $23.99 – with $5 from every order being donated.

Fleetham is a local massage therapist, who is unable to qualify for any financial assistance while on sick leave due to being self-employed.

As of March 11, a GoFund Me campaign had raised more than $16,000.

All funds raised will be used to cover medical expenses, childcare, transportation and other associated costs to support Fleetham’s cancer battle.

According to information posted in the online fundraiser, Fleetham’s treatment plan will consist of 16 weeks of chemotherapy, followed by an additional five weeks of radiation.
