With interest in the Parry Sound Town Dock rising, the Downtown Business Association is questioning whether it should remain managed by a third party.
In a letter to the town, DBA executive director April Denman stated “many years of private management has eroded the nostalgic, historic days when the dock was a friendly, warm and inviting tourist attraction.”
“Our greatest concern…is the possibility of drastically reducing the number of visitors and tourism dollars to our community by mishandling of our water entry to the downtown.”
Denman said there is a ton of room for improvement at the Town Dock and wonders if it would be better off being managed by the town, with assistance from the DBA.
Consultants have been hired to see if this is a viable option for the town, or if an agreement with a private manager should be extended past 2025.
