Members of the West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre fundraising committee are continuing to push hard for donations.
The ‘Let’s Make a Splash’ fundraising campaign has raised nearly $55,000 since it launched in June, according to Ann MacDairmid, fundraising committee chair and Seguin Township Mayor. Doctors, teachers, restaurateurs, sports clubs, seniors and the Masonic Lodge are among the community groups that have contributed to the campaign.
During a meeting on Sept. 11, MacDairmid highlighted the fact all donations made before Nov. 24 will be matched by an anonymous donor, up to $100,000.
“Now is the time to turn $1 into $2,” she said.
“Arthur and Thomas Mahon, who set out to raise $500, have raised $1,001 which will turn into $2,002. It shows you what a seven-and-nine-year-old can do.”
The Mahon’s sold ice cream sandwiches at Humphrey soccer nights to raise funds for the new pool.
