Parry Sound moving forward with playground revitalization program

Five Parry Sound parks are getting new playground equipment.

At a meeting Tuesday night, council approved a motion to spend nearly $749,500 dollars on new playground structures for Mission Park, Booth Street Park, Wabuno Beach, Cherry Street Park and William Street Park, and three new fitness stations along the waterfront trail.

Town officials say the municipality has applied to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and is seeking $500,000 in funding for the revitalization project.

Should the town not receive the funding, they’ll use the $488,500 allocated in 2024 capital budget, and cover the difference with reserves.
