There will be no salt at the Parry Sound salt dock this winter.
According to Mike Kearns, the town’s director of public works, the municipality was informed of the decision by Compass Minerals, which leases the property.
“They do not intend on having salt on the dock this year. It has all been removed,” said Kearns, who provided an update to council on Oct. 1.
“At this point they have not given indications of the future.”
Kearns says Compass Minerals lease with the town expires in 2027, and that there have been no discussions about the continued use of the property.
