The eight communities of West Parry Sound are inviting residents to apply to join the newly-formed West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police Detachment Board.
Under the Community Safety and Policing Act, which came into effect in April, it is required that there be an OPP board for each detachment that provides policing.
The local 12-member board will be made up of one councilor from Carling, McDougall, McKellar, Parry Sound, Seguin, the Township of the Archipelago, Whitestone, and Henvey Inlet First Nation…along with two provincial appointees, and two residents.
Responsibilities include determining objectives and priorities for police services, monitoring the performance of the Detachment Commander, reviewing reports and more.
