Parry Sound Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith says one of the highlights in the fall economic statement is the increase to the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF).
The fund provides direct support to local municipalities. According to Smith, the province is increasing it by $100 million dollars over the next two years to a total of $600 million by 2026. Around $2.6 millon of that increase will go to communities in the local riding.
“As an ex-mayor, I know how important that fund is. It is direct funding to municipalities, unrestricted dollars that let them provide services to residents,” he said.
The fund will increase by $50 million in 2025 to a total of $550 million, with those additional funds targeted to small, northern and rural municipalities.
