Activity picking up on West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre project

The construction of the West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre is moving along on schedule.

That’s according to Jason Homewood of Ball Construction, who spoke about the project’s progress at a board meeting last night.

“Everything is still on track. We are not seeing any slippage in the schedule right now, so we are quite pleased, even though we did have a challenging winter,” said Homewood.

“It’s an exciting time in the project. (There is) lots more activity coming.”

Homewood says the wood roof deck has been completely installed and that the structural steel frame will be completed this week.

He also says that framing of the exterior walls will be starting next week, along with the installation of insulated metal panels.

Officials say the project costs won’t be impacted by the ongoing tariff war, as 95% of the project was tendered last year.

The project is still on track to be completed by mid-May 2026.
