Parry Sound residents will see their taxes increase by 3.7 percent this year.
Council unanimously approved the town’s 2025 operating and capital budgets at a special meeting on March 25.
“The 2025 budget maintains services to the public while balancing various competing interests,” said Mayor Jamie McGarvey. “It’s great that council was able to fund a number of requests from the community in this year’s budget.”
This year the town will run with a $42.4 million operating budget and $18.1 million capital budget. Staff say they were able to secure $13.3 million in capital grant funding, a significant increase from the $808,000 the municipality received last year.
This year’s capital investments include the construction of a new wastewater pump station near Champagne Street, the rehabilitation of the town dock, improvements to the washrooms at the dock, and nearly $800,000 in street paving and sidewalk improvements.
“The 2025 budget focuses on maintaining existing infrastructure while planning to service growth, particularly housing, a priority for council and the community,” said director of finance Stephanie Phillips.
